Education Department of Chittaranjan College has completed more than two decades. In 2001, Education was introduced at the under graduate level. Over the years it has expanded with full time and part time faculty members focussing on imparting quality education and enrichment of students’ activities.
Smt Namita Majumder from the Department of Bengali took classes of this department. In 2002, Ms. Shyamali Ghoshal joined the department as part time faculty and now has been approved as SACT-2 ( State Aided College Teacher) by the Department of Higher Education of West Bengal.In 2006,Mrs Subarna Ghosh joined as part time teacher and now she is working as an assistant Professor in a college affiliated to the West Bengal State University. In 2010, Dr. Sucharita Roy Chowdhury Basu joined the department as Assistant Prof in Education. At present, there are one Assistant Professor and one State Aided College Teacher in this department.
This department has always emphasised on the “manifestation of perfection” among the students. As Education is a multidisciplinary subject, it focuses on different subject areas like Educational Philosophy, Educational Psychology, Educational Sociology, Inclusive Education, Teaching skill, Peace Education, Skill for Democratic Citizenship and so on. Starting with the 2+1 system this department has made an eventful journey towards transition to 1+1+1 system, CBCS System and the newly CCF System.
Our goal and mission are to help the students towards all round development, inculcate values, maintain healthy relationship among students and teachers, make aware of social responsibilities, sensitize about various social issues, develop empathy and provide guidance as and when required. The faculty members of this department are dedicated and always try to introduce the students to the latest horizon of knowledge. Project works done by students not only develop their knowledge but also grows self-confidence. Students and teachers of this department together take part in different co-curricular activities like preparing wall magazine, class debate, extempore, etc. and thus they share a healthy cooperative relationship.

Students from the Department of Education participate in educational tour, preparation and demonstration of departmental magazine and awareness campaigns based on relevant issues.
To deal with the adjustment issues of students during COVID lockdown, Department of Education under the aegis of IQAC has organized national webinar on “Opportunities During Covid 19 and Its Future Scenario in The Context of Higher Education” with participation from students, teachers and other stakeholders of different countries. Eminent speakers from University of Calcutta, University of University of Delhi, West Bengal State University and WBUTTEPA have honoured the sessions which turned out to be beneficial for students and teachers of different institutions. Another one day online motivational cum interactive session on “practising emotional wellness during pandemic: a self-care help for students”.
