The Department of Urdu has been introduced in Chittaranjan College as one of the Modern Indian Language ( MIL) at the undergraduate level in the year 2008 with Professor Shabnam Parveen as part time faculty. In 2009, Ms.Shabana Khatoon joined the Urdu Department as part time faculty and has now been approved as SACT I (State Aided College Teacher, Category-1) by the Department of Higher Education of West Bengal and is presently running thedepartment as HOD. The department mission is to enable students with knowledge in literary studies,and try to proficient scholars in Urde language and literature. To make the Urdu language and literature more popular among the students and find out the ways to the developments to adopt Urdu as a fascinating subjects of study in the college.
